Stockbridge New Cemetery
Stockbridge ‘new’ Cemetery can be found at Winton Hill, Stockbridge, on the B3049 to Winchester. The cemetery is in a peaceful, rural location, surrounded by trees and fields and can be visited at any time.
Romsey Road Cemetery
Romsey Road Cemetery is situated at the eastern end of the village at the bottom of Romsey Road and opposite Old St. Peter's Church.
Although this closed for burials it is open to visitors at all times of the year. No burials have taken place here for some considerable time.
We would be grateful if you would keep the gates closed if visiting and please take care when accessing the cemetery as the entrance is directly adjacent to a main road.
Exclusive rights to burial plots may be purchased by contacting Mrs Michaela Nadal of Stockbridge Parish Council on 01264-810567 (see below for a list of current charges).
Although you don’t have to erect a headstone or other memorial, some relatives may well choose to have a permanent memorial to a loved one. No memorial may be erected for at least 6 – 9 months after burial, to ensure the soil around the grave has settled.
The burial plot will be rolled to ensure the ground is flat and more easily maintained in the future by the grounds man. Relatives of the deceased should contact a memorial mason at the appropriate time to discuss their wishes.
The mason will then deal directly with Stockbridge Parish Council to ensure limits of size etc are adhered to. Additional wording may also be included at a later date.
Current charges for memorials are listed below. Relatives of the deceased remain responsible for the maintenance of memorials and the Parish Council will also try to let them know if repair work is needed.
The scale of charges for all aspects of burial and memorials will depend on whether the deceased person was a Parishioner of Stockbridge or not, although the Parish Council may well use their discretion if, for example, the deceased person only recently left Stockbridge to go into a nursing or care home.
