Education Provision in Stockbridge

Stockbridge is blessed with a range of education providers catering for children aged 0 through to 16 years old, all in the heart of the Test Valley.

Each of the providers is relatively small in size compared to the national average, meaning that in each school or centre, staff get to know children exceptionally well and can manage individual needs to prepare them for a successful, independent life.

Water Meadows Children’s Centre

Water Meadows Children’s Centre, operated by Sure Start, provides outreach support to all outlying villages and communities within the Test Valley for children aged 0-5 years.

The Centre shares the site of the local primary school at the Winchester Road end of the village and has a small playspace inside along with a huge library of loanable items such as story sacks, books on child development and toys.

Stockbridge Pre-School

Stockbridge Pre School also shares the school site and caters for children aged 2-4 years old.  Their revamped building is stunning and offers a purpose built site for your child’s first foray into day care and education.

Provision is offered every day of the week by fully qualified and experienced staff, who build in regular opportunities to use the school facilities, particularly the large outdoor early years area.

Stockbridge Primary School

Stockbridge Primary School has just celebrated its centenary and is looking forward to the next 100 years of successfully providing a high quality of education for children within the Test Valley.

The catchment area for the school covers Stockbridge itself and many of the outlying villages; Longstock, Leckford, Houghton and Marsh Court although the school draws from a wider area than this stretching down to Lopcombe Corner and up to Andover including the Wallops and the villages on the way to Winchester.

‘Learning for Life’ is the schools motto and many opportunities are built into the new curriculum to make best use of all that the Test Valley offers, including the Schools’ own wildlife garden, acre playing field, amphitheatre and train station theme.

Test Valley School

Test Valley School is situated at the opposite end of the high street to the Primary School, Pre-School and Children’s Centre.  As with Stockbridge Primary School it draws from a wide catchment area covering a number of outlying villages.

It is a small, rural comprehensive school with specialist status in Mathematics and Computing. It offers a high quality learning experience which prepares pupils to become independent, confident and well qualified young people.

It is able to provide a stable and caring community and Ofsted judged the care, guidance and support to be outstanding with pupils well known to staff and “part of an extended family in which everyone looks out for each other.”

The school’s motto is ‘in pursuit of personal excellence’ for all and every pupil is closely supported to ensure high individual attainment.
